After retirement, his commitment to public education in the field of defence has continued, including as secretary general of the General Defence Association and as a regular writer in various magazines. With his reading and knowledge of strategy, Stefan Ring has been a great source of inspiration for both academic researchers and military teachers. Ring is a role model in public education on defence and security issues, and his pioneering work also includes his own writing. Through his teaching and publications, Ring has contributed both to the understanding of the Swedish strategic context and to the development of concepts within military strategy, thereby making an important contribution to the development of the subject of war science at the Swedish National Defence University."
