The Academy of War Sciences' project SV-AR 2023-2025 has a purpose that is illustrated by the abbreviation where SV stands for Sweden, A for deterrence and R for Resilience. The dashes symbolize the need for endurance over time and thematic synergy in the spectrum from peace to war. In the security policy situation that Sweden finds itself in as a member of NATO and the EU, it is necessary to devote a lot of effort to understanding the outside world.

Following the US election in November 2024 and ahead of the final report at the end of 2025, the SV-AR project presents the interim report “In the near future” in two parts. The report primarily analyses what a changed direction in American security policy, the “Trump effect”, could mean for NATO and Sweden, but also highlights possible consequences of a number of global trends. The report also includes a number of recommendations for measures that should be taken IN THE NEAR TIME in light of the serious security policy situation.

Several of the recommendations listed "In the near future" are based on interim reports produced in the project's various main areas.

PART I of "I närtid" includes an analysis of the external environment and SV-AR security policy considerations as well as recommendations that should be addressed IN THE IMMEDIATE FUTURE.

Part II is a compilation of the interim reports that form the basis for the recommendations.
