Members

The Royal Swedish Academy of War Sciences consists of just over 400 members who together represent all branches of the Swedish total defense. New members are elected each year in May. The Academy's statutes stipulate that there may be a maximum of 160 elected members who are younger than seventy years of age. This means that when a member reaches the age of 70, a seat becomes "vacant" so that a new member can be elected.

A Swedish citizen who is known for good contributions within the Academy's field of activity and who is deemed to have the will and ability to participate in the Academy's activities may be elected as a member.

A foreign citizen who is known for outstanding contributions within the Academy's field of activity may be appointed as a member.
