In four videos – see the links below – a first draft of the Security Policy Subproject final report is presented for preliminary views from the Academy's members. A shorter presentation of the report and its conclusions has previously been submitted to Section VI members and Swedish-speaking invited members (part 1 below):

Part 1: Presentation summary DP Säk final report
Part 2: Presentation DP Säk final report (introduction-global-south)
Part 3: Presentation DP Säk (East-West, Europe)
Part 4: Presentation DP Säk (Nordic-Sweden strategy issue)

This final report is the third report of the subproject, the first, “Crises in the Middle East – risks of spreading to Europe"was published in 2019 and the second, "Engulfed in flames” was published in the fall of 2020. In addition to this, the subproject has set aside the publication ”Looking outward and forward” with an account of the presentations at the Winter Symposium 2019.

This final report, like previous reports, is based on the SES project plan, which states, among other things, that

The project should clarify the common European track – the project's strategic choice – and maintain that security policy, both as a description of the threat landscape and the surrounding world and as policy formulation, encompasses all parts of cooperation, military and civilian, foreign policy as well as defense policy. (p. 3).

The overall research question stated is, among other things, that

The research will concentrate on questions that, overall, aim to clarify how Sweden, in a European context, can optimally meet the challenges facing the country.

The specific research question for this subproject is as follows:

What security policy consequences do developments in Europe have for Sweden and how should we cooperate with partners to best promote our own security and regional security?

The final report consistently places Swedish security at the center and the European perspective provides the natural framework, while the report structure is built on the "intersection" between the east-west and north-south dimensions and their impact on various strategic levels, including policy issues at the Swedish and Nordic levels.

The text version of the report will be submitted to the Academy members for comments later this summer and printed in the autumn. Comments can be submitted to the undersigned by email. larserik.lundin@gmail.com and e.michael.sahlin45@gmail.com
