Tibell Fund

The Academy of War Sciences was founded in 1796 by Lieutenant General, Baron Gustaf Wilhelm af Tibell. According to its statutes, the Academy shall promote sciences of importance for the defense of the fatherland and follow and monitor research and development of importance for the security and defense of the realm. The Academy's desire is, as an independent institution, to contribute to and participate in the defense and security debate.

On 12 November 2012, the Academy adopted regulations for a newly established fund, the Tibell Fund. The purpose of the fund is to support the Academy's activities as a scientific instrument in the field of security and defence.

The Tibellian Prize is an annual cash prize from the Tibell Fund and is awarded to the author of the year's best article in Handlingar och Tidskrift.

The Academy of Military Sciences gratefully accepts contributions to the Tibell Fund. Gifts can be made in the form of cash, securities, etc. from individuals and legal entities. For this purpose, the fund's bank account can be 111-3075 can be used, or Swish number 123 624 9460.

How does a donation happen?

  • Donations of cash are made via bank transfer to bank account 111-3075 with the text "Tibellska Fonden".
  • Donation of securities occurs by the donor notifying the securities manager/VPC what is to be transferred to the depository at SEB, 01-006 987 142, with the text "Tibellska Fonden".
  • Returns/interest on securities are calculated in a similar manner.
  • When donating through a will (bequest), SEB "Tibellska Fonden" and the bank giro number/deposit are stated in the will.

Other

The Academy is not registered as a tax-exempt recipient of gifts. However, the Academy has limited tax liability. This means that both the donor and the Academy avoid tax if securities, fixed assets (equivalent) are transferred directly to the fund, without being preceded by a sale.
